Conquest energy, refreshed Fun Ship

We experience Carnival Valor as classic Conquest-class Carnival: lively pools, punchy shows, and family-friendly chaos that got a real 2025 hardware bump. We’d send Fun Ship fans here when price-per-laugh matters more than Excel-class newbuild polish.

Valor still wears her “Heroes and Heroism” Joe Farcus personality, but the day-to-day product is modern Carnival. WaterWorks twin slides arrived in the 2025 Cadiz drydock, Camp Ocean now carries a fleet-first LED wall, and the Lido circuit of Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, and Serenity still gives adults an escape hatch. Expect lively evenings in Ivanhoe Theatre, Punchliner comedy, and a renovated casino—not hush.

Cabins follow the Conquest playbook: insides and oceanviews for budget volume, standard balconies as the sweet spot, and Captain’s, Grand, or Ocean Suites when you want terrace space. Connecting rooms help multi-gen groups; we’d skip banks under the Lido or beside elevator cores if anyone in your party is noise-sensitive. Ask us before you lock a category—placement beats square footage on a busy Fun Ship.

Dining splits between Lincoln and scenic Washington main rooms, Scarlett’s for steakhouse nights, and the Fun Ship 2.0 casuals that landed in 2016. Versus Excel or XL sisters, Valor feels older and denser, yet the 2025 WaterWorks and cabin USB refresh keep her competitive for Caribbean weeks from Port Canaveral or the islands. Confirm her current embarkation or upcoming Mobile pattern on this page and ask us which homeport fits your drive-to plan.

She's for
  • Families who want slides, kids clubs, and casual dining
  • Multi-gen groups chasing value Caribbean weeks
  • First-timers who like high-energy Fun Ship vibes
  • Carnival fans who prefer classic Conquest scale over megaships
She's not for
  • Travelers chasing quiet luxury or adults-only calm
  • Guests who dislike crowds, lines, and late Lido energy
  • Shoppers who only want the newest Excel-class hardware
Honest caveat

She’s a 2004 Conquest hull—2025 WaterWorks and USB ports help, but bathrooms and cabin tech still lag Excel newbuilds. Ask us whether a newer Carnival sister is worth the step-up before you book.

Carnival Valor, on paper

Show ship backgroundHide ship background

Carnival Valor is a 2004 Fincantieri Monfalcone Conquest-class ship, the third of five alongside Conquest, Freedom, Glory, and Liberty. At roughly 110,000 GT with about 1,492 staterooms and up to ~3,500 guests at full load, she sits in Carnival’s large mid-fleet tier rather than Excel megaship scale. Godmother Katie Couric christened the Heroes-and-Heroism Joe Farcus interior.

Fun Ship upgrades stacked over time: Evolution of Fun work in 2008, Serenity and cabin adds in 2011, and a major Fun Ship 2.0 drydock in 2016 that brought Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, Alchemy Bar, RedFrog Pub, and related Lido bars. The May–June 2025 Navantia Cadiz refit added Carnival WaterWorks twin slides, Heroes Tribute Bar, Camp Ocean LED wall upgrades, expanded casino, Cloud 9 Spa rebrand, and stateroom USB/LED refreshes.

Deployment has included Bridgetown, San Juan, and Port Canaveral Caribbean patterns, with year-round Mobile, Alabama sailing announced to begin 15 May 2027. Confirm the current homeport and itinerary on this page—Carnival rotates Valor across Caribbean hubs as the Mobile transition approaches.
