We experience Costa Toscana as Costa’s LNG Excellence-class megaship—Italian dining plaza energy, family water park, and Med weekenders from Savona. We’d put mixed families here when they want a European megaship with Tuscan branding rather than a US Fun Ship.
Onboard life centers on the shopping-and-dining plaza and the glass-roof pool complex that defines Costa’s Excellence-class megaships in the Mediterranean. Families gravitate to Deck 16’s water park, slides, ropes course, and mini-golf, while adults escape to the Beach Club pocket under the dome when main pools peak on sea days. Evenings feel Italian Costa with shows, gelato, and plaza buzz, more European resort megaship than Caribbean party boat.
Cabins are Excellence-class volume, with interconnecting rooms that help multi-gen groups and Grand Suites that add terrace space above the crowds when you want a quieter threshold. We usually steer light sleepers away from banks under the activity deck and late plaza venues on sea-day heavy weeks. Ask us before you lock a guarantee on a ship this large, because elevator waits and pool-deck noise are the real booking variables.
Dining leans Italian with Pizzeria Pummid’oro, family-style Tutti a Tavola, and specialty nights alongside the main restaurants that carry Costa’s food culture into the week. Versus Carnival’s Excel sisters (Mardi Gras, Celebration), Toscana shares the LNG XL platform but runs Costa’s language, service style, and Med/Brazil deployment. Confirm Savona or seasonal sailings on this page, then ask us which category fits your group.
At full load, the glass-roof pools, water park, and elevators need patience. We’ll steer you toward quieter cabin pockets and off-peak dining so you skip the worst bottlenecks.
Costa Toscana is an Excellence/Helios-class LNG megaship built at Meyer Turku (hull 1395). Steel was cut 30 July 2019, hull assembly advanced through 2020, she floated out 14 January 2021, completed Baltic sea trials in October 2021, and was delivered 2 December 2021. Christening followed dockside in Barcelona on 14 June 2022 with godmother Chanel Terrero Martínez.
She shares the XL LNG platform with Costa Smeralda and Carnival’s Excel sisters, using MaK dual-fuel engines and large cryogenic LNG tanks for propulsion and hotel load at sea and in port. Hotel features include a retractable glass pool roof, Deck 16 activity park, Beach Club adults area, glass-bottom skywalk, and a large Organic Spa and fitness complex.
Mediterranean programs commonly use Savona plus other European homeports such as Valencia and Marseille, while winter seasons have also included Brazil sailings from Santos. Confirm the embarkation city and season on the sailing you want, because Costa rotates deployments. Specs and live sailings on this page are the verification step before you book.
