Grand-class Princess, still polished
We experience Emerald Princess as classic Grand-class Princess: Piazza mornings, balcony-heavy cabins, and calm evenings that still feel like a big ship. She’s for couples and multi-gen groups who want Princess polish on European and warm-water weeks without Sphere-class novelty.
We feel Emerald as evolutionary Princess, nearly identical in layout to Crown Princess and Ruby Princess. The three-deck Piazza, adults-only Sanctuary, and Skywalkers nightclub aft set a familiar rhythm: coffee and people-watching by day, production shows and Wheelhouse pub energy by night. Enrichment and Movies Under the Stars fit guests who want a class or two between ports without megaship thrill parks.
Cabins are the booking decision on this hull, with most inventory in balcony staterooms around the classic Grand footprint and family connecting rooms added in the 2016 refresh. We steer light sleepers away from late Lido overhead toward quieter midship verandah banks. Show ship backgroundHide ship backgroundEmerald Princess is the eighth Grand-class Princess Cruises liner, built at Fincantieri Monfalcone and delivered in March 2007. She is nearly identical in layout to Crown Princess and Ruby Princess, with other Grand-class sisters including Caribbean, Diamond, Grand, and Sapphire. Christening followed her inaugural Med cruise, with a Port Piraeus ceremony in May 2007.
A 2015–2016 yard period added SHARE by Curtis Stone (replacing Sabatini’s), Salty Dog Gastropub, Princess Luxury Beds, fitness upgrades, and about 100 interconnecting family cabins. Later drydocks in Victoria (2019), Rotterdam (2022), and Palermo (2025) focused mainly on maintenance, hull work, and technical upgrades rather than a full venue redo. Theater lighting was modernized in 2024.
