LNG-era Explora, same yacht brief
Explora IV is the later LNG sister in Explora Journeys’ ocean-suite class—same yacht living brief as Explora I, newer propulsion chapter. We’d put couples here when they want the brand’s quiet gourmet product on the LNG-era hull.
We experience Explora IV as the same Explora Journeys thesis on a later hull: ocean-suite living, flexible gourmet nights, and calm decks rather than MSC megaship energy. Expect the class signature of glass-forward lounges, an adults-leaning Helios Pool, marina days when itineraries allow, and a Conservatory that moves from pool light to evening cinema. Our advice is simple: choose her for the brand’s pacing, not for kids-club spectacle.
Cabin strategy mirrors the lead ships. Ocean Terrace Suites remain the volume play; we step guests into Ocean Penthouses and Ocean Residences when butler service and terrace living are the point, and we treat the Owner’s Residence as a rare celebration key. Ask us about interconnecting family suites only if a multi-gen group truly wants shared corridor access—otherwise keep the booking couples-first.
Dining should feel familiar to Explora shoppers: rotate Anthology, Sakura, Fil Rouge, and Med Yacht Club, and save Chef’s Kitchen for a planned surcharge night. Versus Explora I and II, the meaningful hardware difference is the LNG redesign that also pushed delivery later into the decade. Confirm whether your sailing is actually on IV versus an earlier sister below, then we will match suite tier, timing, and embarkation city carefully.
- Couples who want Explora suite living on the later LNG sisters
- Travellers comparing midsize luxury without megaship crowds
- Guests who prioritize spa, marina days, and flexible specialty dining
- Shoppers waiting for newer Explora hardware over the diesel lead ships
- Families needing big kids programming and slides
- Anyone wanting MSC mega-ship energy under a luxury badge
- Shoppers who need a ship sailing today rather than a later delivery
She’s the LNG-era Explora arriving after the diesel lead ships—same yacht brief, later timeline. Confirm delivery and which sister you’re actually booking with us before you lock dates.

Explora IV, on paper
Show ship backgroundHide ship backgroundExplora IV is the fourth EXPLORA-class ocean suite ship for MSC Group’s Explora Journeys brand, built in the Fincantieri program that began with Explora I at Monfalcone. Class volume sits near 63,900 GT with an all-outside-suite inventory in the same product family as Explora I: ocean terraces, penthouses, residences, and a headline Owner’s Residence.
Unlike Explora I and II, which run low-sulfur marine diesel, Explora III and IV were redesigned for LNG propulsion. That change raised construction cost and delayed delivery into the later 2020s relative to the original schedule, with IV commonly listed among the 2027 arrivals alongside the broader six-ship Explora roadmap through Explora VI.
Public product cues remain yacht-luxury rather than MSC mega-ship: all-inclusive beverages, multiple specialty restaurants, spa and wellness space, and destination-led itineraries with frequent overnights. Confirm the specific ship, fuel generation, and embarkation on this page before treating class plans or year labels as locked for your voyage.
