Lead Grand, still familiar
We experience Grand Princess as the original Grand-class hull: Piazza mornings, balcony volume, and MedallionClass polish on a 1998 platform. She’s for couples and multi-gen groups who want classic Princess rhythm without Sphere-class novelty.
We feel Grand as evolutionary Princess rather than a novelty ship, and that familiar layout is often the entire booking reason for us. The three-deck Piazza, adults-only Sanctuary, and production shows set a classic day-to-night beat that returning guests already know from her Grand-class sisters. Movies Under the Stars, enrichment, and One5 nightlife pockets keep evenings busy without megaship waterpark energy or Sphere-class neighborhood experiments.
Cabins are mostly classic Grand-class balconies, with about 80% of outsides stepping out onto private verandahs that define the Princess value story. We book midship verandahs when light sleepers are aboard and steer clear of late Horizon Court or Lido overhead when possible. Ask us about wheelchair rooms, interconnectors, elevator banks, and the Grand Suite terrace play before you lock a grade for your group.
Dining follows the Princess map across Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Da Vinci with Traditional, Reservable, or Anytime styles, plus Sabatini’s, Crown Grill, and casual Piazza bites between shows. Versus newer Sphere-class sisters she won’t wow with neighborhoods, but she wins on balcony count and a layout veterans trust. Olivia de Havilland christened her later that September in a ceremony that marked the start of Princess’s most durable class family. Sisters include Crown, Diamond, Caribbean, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, and the former Golden and Star hulls now sailing for Carnival brands.
A major 2011 refit introduced the Piazza atrium concept and The Sanctuary. The 2013 drydock removed Skywalkers aft for Crown Grill, pizzeria space, Leaves tea lounge, and One5. April–May 2025 work at Vigor in Portland covered routine maintenance, hull work, and minor hotel updates rather than a full venue redo.
