She’s our New York–friendly big-ship pick when the family wants spectacle and you’re willing to navigate MSC’s scale and pricing structure.
Daily life orbits Galleria Meraviglia, the indoor promenade under the LED sky where shops, bars, and evening parades keep the ship feeling like a covered boulevard. Outside, the water park and sports decks pull kids into high-energy sea-day hours that can feel packed at full load. Quieter adults either time those decks carefully or key into MSC Yacht Club for a ship-within-a-ship reset with private dining, lounge access, and sundeck space.
Cabin strategy splits cleanly across the main ship and Yacht Club product tiers on every sailing. Standard balconies are the volume play for most families, and cluster cabins link rooms for big groups who want adjoining doors without paying a full suite fare. We’d book Yacht Club suites when the budget covers calm, and we steer noise-sensitive guests away from promenade-overhead rooms and late-entertainment banks.

Show ship backgroundHide ship backgroundMSC Meraviglia was delivered in May 2017 by STX France in Saint-Nazaire as the first Meraviglia-class (Vista Project) ship for MSC Cruises, later joined by Bellissima and the larger Meraviglia-Plus sisters Grandiosa and Virtuosa. At roughly 171,000 GT she ranked among the largest vessels built for a Europe-based line at debut, with more than four thousand lower berths.
Christened in Le Havre with Sophia Loren as godmother, she introduced NFC bracelets and interactive booking screens as early fleet digital standards, plus cluster cabins for multi-room family setups and the Galleria LED promenade as the signature indoor boulevard. Deployment moved from Mediterranean debut seasons into Caribbean programs and, from 2023, year-round New York (Brooklyn) sailings with Ocean Cay calls on many warm-water itineraries.
