Day to day, Gem still feels like classic Norwegian: open seating, a busy atrium pulse, and Freestyle Dining that lets you roam instead of clocking in. We experience her as a social midsize ship where O’Sheehan’s, the main pools, and the Stardust Theater set the rhythm more than any single neighborhood. She’s lively without being a floating nightclub, though sea-day decks and elevator banks will remind you she’s popular.

Cabin strategy matters more than brochure categories. Standard balconies in the 140–160 ft² band are the volume play for most weeks. We’d stretch for The Haven when you want a quieter pocket and keyed access, or at least confirm midship banks away from late venues.
