She was christened at PortMiami on 17 November 2001 with godmother Brooke Burke, and her inaugural sailing followed on 19 November. Sister ship is Norwegian Dawn.
Early years ran Hawaiian Islands roundtrips from Honolulu, then West Coast Alaska and Mexican Riviera seasons. Later chapters included Tampa Caribbean, New York Bermuda, and Northern Europe from Copenhagen. Norwegian Edge drydocks in 2015 and 2018 refreshed staterooms, added Spice H2O and Los Lobos, and modernized public rooms, while a 2024 Brest yard call covered Azipods, stabilizers, hull cleaning, and class work.
