The crossing is the point
Queen Mary 2 isn’t trying to be a floating theme park. She’s the ocean liner we’d book when the Atlantic crossing itself is the vacation, with evenings that still dress for dinner.
We experience QM2 as a ship that rewards sea days. She’s built for Southampton–New York runs at liner speeds, with windscreens, ballroom culture, and Illuminations, still the rare planetarium at sea, plus a library that actually gets used. If you want waterpark energy we won’t push her; if you want to feel like you’re going somewhere by ship, she’s our Cunard flagship pick when the itinerary is the main event.
Cabins span Britannia insides through Grand Duplex suites. Balcony categories matter more on a crossing than you think, because weather changes the outdoor calculus, so we talk grade and location before you chase square footage. Her inaugural voyage toward Fort Lauderdale began January 12, 2004. Designed by naval architect Stephen Payne as a true ocean liner rather than a conventional cruise ship, she was built for sustained Transatlantic service, with size and speed figures on the fact sheet.
Cunard, owned by Carnival Corporation and operated via Carnival UK, keeps QM2 on the only regularly scheduled passenger liner service between Europe and North America.
