Disney Cruise Line’s First Two-Ship Alaska Season Is Underway — Magic and Wonder Sail from Vancouver Through September

Disney Magic and Disney Wonder are both sailing Alaska from Vancouver this summer — the line’s first dual-ship Alaska deployment — with different port mixes through late September.

What happened

Disney Cruise Line is running its first two-ship Alaska season in summer 2026, with Disney Magic and Disney Wonder both sailing roundtrip from Vancouver, British Columbia, through late September. Trade reporting on June 14, 2026 confirms the program is underway — Disney Magic began its inaugural Alaska run in late May after drydock work in Victoria, while Disney Wonder continues the seven-night loops the line has sailed from Vancouver since 2011.

This is the first time Disney has deployed two ships in Alaska at the same time — a capacity move that roughly doubles available sail dates for families who previously competed for limited Wonder inventory each summer.

Magic vs Wonder: ports and personality

The two ships share a homeport and a glacier day, but the port mix is not interchangeable. Disney Wonder continues seven-night Vancouver roundtrips with calls such as Juneau, Ketchikan, and Skagway — the itinerary profile Alaska regulars know from a decade-plus of Wonder summers. Disney Magic's typical week adds Icy Strait Point alongside Ketchikan and Skagway, so you're choosing between Juneau on Wonder and Icy Strait Point on Magic more often than not.

Most sailings on both ships include scenic glacier viewing — commonly Dawes Glacier and the Stikine Icecap — woven into the week regardless of which vessel you pick. Summer 2026 also brought refreshed Frozen-themed outdoor entertainment aboard both ships, per Disney Cruise Line Blog reporting in May.

Each ship is scheduled for more than 15 departures through late September 2026. Disney has already confirmed both Magic and Wonder return to Alaska for summer 2027, so this year's two-ship setup is not a one-off experiment.

What this means for you

If you're a Disney family comparing ships, decide on ports before you chase a fare — Wonder typically gets you Juneau; Magic typically gets you Icy Strait Point. That choice matters more than small price swings between adjacent weeks.

More sail dates also ease the sold-out Wonder history many families hit in peak weeks — but Disney Alaska fares still run premium versus mainstream lines sailing the same routes from Vancouver. When we checked on June 14, 2026, sample Disney Alaska sailings started from about $1,775 per person including taxes and fees. Stack that against Vancouver flights, pre-cruise hotel nights, and shore excursions before you decide whether the Disney premium fits your budget.

Fly-in planners should read our Vancouver Alaska cruise planning guide for Canada Place logistics and homeport math. Already booked on Magic or Wonder this summer? Check our June 2026 Disney policy update for departure-date rules that may affect your sailing.

Late August and September weeks often bring more flexible cabin categories than mid-July peaks — worth comparing if your school calendar allows shoulder timing.
