Italian Carnival, NYC style

Carnival Venezia is the Italian-accented Fun Ship we’d send Northeast families when they want Carnival energy with Carnevale flair. Think pools, slides, and trattoria nights from New York without flying to Florida first.

We experience Carnival Venezia as Vista-class Carnival hardware wearing a Venice costume. You get Fun Ship staples like Guy’s Burgers, Seafood Shack, and WaterWorks, plus Italian spots such as Il Viaggio, Tomodoro, and La Strada Grill. The Terrazza pocket aft is the Italian enclave that makes her feel different from a Florida-based Vista twin, and Serenity still gives adults a quieter sundeck escape when the pool deck peaks.

Cabins follow the Vista playbook: balconies dominate, sofabeds matter for families, and Terrazza staterooms open onto the exclusive Carnevale terrace with Jacuzzis and sail-away energy. We’d book Terrazza when the group wants a mini enclave; otherwise a midship balcony keeps elevators sane. Ask us about lower decks versus under the Lido before you lock a category, especially with light sleepers or toddlers in the party who need real quiet overnight.

Evenings stay lively without needing Excel-class thrills: Gondola Lounge for live music, the main stage and casino for Fun Ship pulse, and specialty dining when you want a quieter Italian night. Versus Firenze she’s the East Coast twin; versus Mardi Gras she’s less roller-coaster, more trattoria. Confirm this sailing’s ports below and we’ll match cabin and dining packages to who’s traveling in the stateroom.

She's for
  • Northeast families who want a drive-to Carnival embarkation
  • Groups that like Italian food themes with Fun Ship energy
  • First-timers who want pools, slides, and familiar Carnival venues
  • Friends booking Terrazza for the exclusive aft terrace vibe
She's not for
  • Travellers chasing hush, formal nights, or luxury all-inclusive
  • Anyone who dislikes crowds, casino noise, or lively pool decks
  • Shoppers who want Excel-class thrills over Italian theming
Honest caveat

She’s a Costa-built hull wearing Carnival colors — great product, but not identical to ships designed for Carnival from day one. We’ll walk Terrazza versus standard balcony tradeoffs before you book.

Show ship backgroundHide ship background

Carnival Venezia was built as Costa Venezia at Fincantieri Monfalcone, with keel ceremony November 1, 2017, float-out June 22, 2018, delivery February 28, 2019, and christening in Trieste on March 1, 2019. She shares Vista-class DNA with Carnival Vista, Horizon, and Panorama, plus sister Costa Firenze (now Carnival Firenze on the West Coast). Size and capacity figures live on the fact sheet on this page.

In 2022 Carnival and Costa launched the Costa by Carnival program to bring two China-market Vista ships into North American Carnival service. Venezia drydocked at Navantia Cádiz from mid-March through late May for Carnival venues such as Fahrenheit 555, Piano Bar 88, Cloud 9 Spa, Serenity, and WaterWorks, plus Italian-branded lounges, before debuting as Carnival’s 25th ship from New York.

Deployment has centered on NYC Caribbean sailings and seasonal Canada/New England patterns. Confirm the specific voyage below before assuming a homeport forever. Sister Firenze covers Long Beach, and the sailings on this page show current embarkation and itinerary.
