Where she is right now
Food-first midsize, now adults-only
We experience Oceania Riviera as Marina-class culinary cruising: midsize passenger counts, destination-heavy itineraries, and dining that is the reason to book—not a megaship afterthought—now under Oceania's adults-only policy.
Day to day she feels polished and unhurried compared with mainstream megaships. Public rooms stay conversational rather than resort-loud, and enrichment plus destination immersion do more work than thrill rides. We send her to food-focused couples and adult friend groups who want longer port days and specialty restaurants included in the Oceania pitch, not bolted on as late upsells.
Cabins skew heavily to balconies; insides are scarce by design on this Marina-class platform. Standard verandas are generous for the class, but we'd step up to Concierge Level or a Penthouse when lounge access and quieter service matter, and Owner's Suites when the wraparound terrace is the trip; ask us about aft versus midship before you lock a category on warm Mediterranean sea days after the 2024 bathroom refresh. That food-first identity is why many guests pick Riviera over louder premium brands.
Dining is the headline: Jacques, Red Ginger, Toscana, and Polo Grill sit beside the Grand Dining Room, with Aquamar Kitchen and the alfresco pizzeria from the 2024 refresh. Versus Marina and the newer Allura-class Vista and Allura, Riviera is the proven midsize food ship rather than the newest hardware. Confirm your sailing on this page and we'll match suite tier to how much quiet you actually want.
- Adult couples who book for cuisine and destination immersion
- Friend groups wanting midsize calm without megaship crowds
- Food-focused travellers comparing Marina-class sisters
- Guests stepping into Concierge or Penthouse for quieter service
- Families with children (Oceania is adults-only)
- Travellers hunting waterparks, ice shows, or high-octane nightlife
- Anyone who needs brand-new Allura-class hardware only
She's a 2012 Marina-class ship—2024 refreshed baths and Penthouses well, but she is not Vista/Allura newbuild design. If newest cabin tech is the priority, we'll compare Riviera versus Allura-class before you book.

Oceania Riviera, on paper
Show ship backgroundHide ship backgroundOceania Riviera is a Marina-class midsize liner built by Fincantieri Sestri Ponente in Genoa and delivered in 2012 as sister to Marina. Design came from Yran and Storbraaten. Volume is about 66,172 GT with roughly 1,250 lower berths, and a modified evolution of the platform appears in Allura-class Vista and Allura.
Christening was 11 May 2012 in Barcelona with chef Cat Cora as godmother; the inaugural Mediterranean cruise ran Venice to Athens. Later OceaniaNEXT and 2022 through 2024 drydocks refreshed staterooms, bathrooms, Polo Grill, and public rooms, adding Aquamar Kitchen and an alfresco pizzeria plus renovated Penthouse inventory. Owner's Suites with Ralph Lauren interiors were introduced in an earlier OceaniaNEXT drydock.
Deployment mixes Mediterranean and destination-heavy seasons with periodic Miami, Alaska, and exploratory Asia chapters across Arabia and India. Since January 2026 Oceania has operated as an adults-only brand across the fleet. Confirm embarkation and dates on this page; fact-sheet specs and live sailings sit below.
