Destination first, ship second

We experience Viking Mira as the next stretch of Viking Ocean’s refined formula: destination-heavy days, all-veranda cabins, and adults-only calm. We’d send curious couples here when included excursions and Nordic spa time matter more than megaship spectacle.

Day to day, Mira feels like a boutique hotel that happens to float. The Explorer’s Lounge, wraparound Lanai promenade, and aft Aquavit Terrace keep the vibe quiet and outward-looking, with fewer sea days and longer port stays as the real product. The complimentary Nordic Spa, including the Snow Grotto, and Deck 7 infinity pool are recovery tools between culture-heavy shoreside days, not a theme-park circuit.

Every stateroom has a private veranda, which is why we like her for couples who refuse to go inside-only. We’d book a Veranda as the volume play, step up to Penthouse when you want more living space and mini-bar polish, and save Suites for guests who treat the cabin as a second lounge. Ask us about midship versus under public rooms; on a quiet ship, placement still decides how well you sleep after late port nights.

Dining stays inclusive and low-friction: the main Restaurant, World Cafe, Italian Grill, and Chef’s Table, with beer and wine at lunch and dinner wrapped into the fare. Evenings lean piano-bar and observation rather than casino chaos, which is why we like her for destination weeks. Confirm her Mediterranean or Northern Europe sailing on this page, and ask us which itinerary matches your port wish list versus the earlier Star-series sisters.

She's for
  • Adults-only couples who want culture over nightlife
  • Travelers who value included excursions and drinks with meals
  • Spa-minded guests who will use the Nordic Spa daily
  • Repeat Viking fans ready for the larger Vela-series hull
She's not for
  • Families with kids under 18
  • Shoppers chasing water slides, casinos, or megaship wow
  • Guests who want the ship itself to be the main attraction
Honest caveat

She’s a Vela-series stretch—slightly larger than the original Star-class Viking Oceans, so the intimacy feels a notch less boutique. Ask us whether the classic or modified sisters fit your quiet-ship bar better.

Viking Mira is a 2026 Fincantieri Ancona newbuild (hull 6331) in Viking Ocean’s second, slightly larger series that began with Viking Vela. At about 54,300 GT with 499 all-veranda staterooms and roughly 998 guests, she sits with sisters Vela, Vesta, Libra, and later Astrea, Lyra, Leda, and Vega—distinct from the earlier Star-to-Saturn ten-ship run.

She floated out in July 2025, was delivered 26 May 2026, and christened in Venice on 1 June 2026 with godmother Rebecca Webb Wilson. Design notes include hybrid-leaning efficiency, top-deck solar panels on the Magradome, and a shallow draft aimed at smaller harbors. Interiors follow the SMC Design and Rottet Studios Viking Ocean language: Explorer’s Lounge, Living Room atrium, Aquavit Terrace, Wintergarden, and Nordic Spa with Snow Grotto.

Her program opens with a 5 June 2026 “Iconic Western Mediterranean” maiden voyage from Civitavecchia-Rome to Barcelona, then summer patterns across Western and Northern Europe including Bergen, Iceland, and the British Isles. Confirm the exact sailing and embarkation city on this page—Viking rotates Med and Northern Europe seasonally.
