Celebrity Eclipse is classic Solstice-class Celebrity—balcony-heavy, spa-forward, and calmer than the megaship circus. We’d put couples and easygoing first-timers here when they want polished evenings without Edge-class gadgetry.
We experience Eclipse as the Solstice playbook done right: wide public rooms, a real grass Lawn Club up top, and an adults-only Solarium when you want quiet water. Days feel resort-calm more than carnival, with evenings built around live music, the Molecular Bar, and theater rather than a thumping nightclub circuit. Our advice is simple: treat her as a balcony-and-spa ship, not a thrill park.
Cabins are why we still recommend her for couples who want outdoor space without megaship sprawl. About 85% of rooms carry step-out balconies, and we’d book AquaClass when spa access and BLU dining matter, or Concierge Class when you want a little extra without suite money. Ask us about lower decks versus under the pool deck—noise is the tradeoff on any Solstice ship, especially with light sleepers in the party.
For food, we treat Murano and Tuscan Grille as the special-night spend, keep Oceanview Cafe for easy lunches, and use Qsine when the table wants a playful tasting. Versus Edge-class sisters, Eclipse is older hardware with a warmer, more traditional Celebrity rhythm and fewer cabin gadgets. Confirm your sailing on this page and we’ll match cabin tier, including Penthouse Suites, to how much spa and balcony time you actually want.
She’s a 2010 Solstice lead—the Revolution-era refreshes help, but she lacks Edge-class infinite verandas and cabin tech. If modern room design is your priority, confirm the latest cabin product with us before you book.
Celebrity Eclipse is the third Solstice-class ship from Meyer Werft Papenburg—launched February 2010, delivered 15 April 2010, and christened in Southampton on 24 April with godmother Emma Pontin. She sails alongside Equinox, Solstice, Silhouette, and Reflection. Gross tonnage, berths, and deck counts live on the fact sheet on this page.
As newbuilds, Solstice ships introduced Concierge Class and AquaClass plus a high balcony mix of roughly 85% step-out rooms. Eclipse also shipped with photovoltaic panels and efficiency upgrades pitched as about 30% better than peers of her era. A 2015 drydock refreshed venues such as Gastrobar and the pool Slush bar, and a Celebrity Revolution refit was slated around 2020 as the line updated the class look and tech.
Early seasons were Europe-based across the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, with later Caribbean stretches often homeported at Port Everglades / Fort Lauderdale. Confirm the voyage below for current homeport and itinerary, then match cabin category to who’s sailing. Specs and upcoming dates on this page are the source of truth for the sailing you are shopping.
